Custom built in mudroom Lockers

I was asked to create a mudroom design that incorporated 5 lockers, one reclaimed storage bench and three wall mounted wood shelves.

We wanted to create storage and keep things as neat and clean for this family of 5.

We decided to build two sets of lockers. One would be a two door that would fit into an out cove in the hallway. The other would be a larger three door unit that would sit adjacent. The homeowner wanted a piece that was rustic but still clean and simple.

Making the bench seat from some reclaimed lumber added the rustic touch

The addition of aluminum decorative screens help block the view of the items within the lockers but still added an interesting historical detail.

 Primed and ready for paint

Two coats of a semi gloss Olympic paint finished the look. The seat was finished with a dark mahogany stain and three coats of a clear poly.

Tight fit but it went in eventually

Decorative glass pulls completed the look.

Ample coat hooks and custom engraved name plates finished the inside.

The client wanted the wall shelves to resemble old wood crates. So I built three and did a bit of scenic painting to give them a rustic used feel.

I also built a storage bench from more reclaimed 2x10 ripped into 3/4" boards. adding a gas spring took the weight off the seat to keep little fingers from getting pinched.

The bench was also finished with a Mahogany minwax stain and then three coats of a poly.
